About the Chinese oil
painting collection of the last century |
I do not agree with some media
saying that there were no oil painting collectors in China
before liberation.
Here are two early 20th-century Chinese and Swiss collectors of
oil paintings who collected because they loved art.
Although the two countries have different social systems, the
fate of art collections is different.
It's always been that way,
because you love art - you have collections, not for the hype. |

Chinese oil painting collector
XiZhen Lee(Meng Hu)1901-1966
His father Li Youlan, Daoyin, the
Republic of Mukden provincial Assembly speaker. Hee-jin Lee studied in
Switzerland and Germany and is a doctor of Medicine. After returning to
China, he served as the dean of Harbin Medical College (the predecessor of
Harbin Medical University).
Li Xizhen collected more than 40 Western European and Russian
oil paintings, and held an oil painting collection exhibition in Beiping
Dengshikou YMCA around 1940. Later, some of the exhibits were lost.
In 1949, some oil
paintings were donated to the government (Shenyang) for collection, and
their whereabouts were unknown. Only a few paintings remain in the Lee
family collection.

When I was a child, I saw the
paintings in the family collection, which may have influenced me to become a
painter. |
|
Since 1986, my paintings have
been lucky enough to be loved by some people, so that my works have become
"collectibles".
These collectors are mainly:
Some family in Hong Kong owns 33 of my paintings.
Mr. Zhang in Beijing has collected eight of my oil paintings.
Mr. Zhang of Malaysia has collected eight of my paintings.
Ms. Ma in Beijing has collected six of my oil paintings.
More than 200 of my other oil paintings have been collected by art lovers at
home and abroad. |
